School Counseling at
Wendell Middle
School

School counselors are trained to provide individual and group counseling in areas such as social/ emotional, academic, career, and crisis management.

The American School Counselor Association and Wake County Schools Identified the following focus areas for school counselors in grade six:

  • To help students improve their academic and personal self-concept
  • To provide study skills support to improve learning
  • To help students learn how to seek  information and support from faculty, staff, family, community, organizations, and peers to improve learning
  • To help students recognize, accept, respect, and appreciate individual differences
  • To teach students effective communication skills
  • To teach decision-making skills
  • To help students develop an awareness of personal abilities, skills, interests and motivations
  • To help students identify how their interests,  abilities, and achievement relate to achieving personal, social, and career goals

If you have students who you feel would benefit from counseling services, please notify us and we will schedule a time to see them.
