This site from the Univ. of Pennsylvania is compiled by John Mark Ockerbloom, the UPenn digital library planner. Look here for some favorites like Tom Sawyer, or something historic like the early 19th century McGuffey Readers. Ockerbloom also has an interesting article on the history of banned books. |

This is a great free book site for kids. There are offerings of new and old books here. There are also out-of-print picture books that were donated by their creators to the collection. ICDL director Jane White is contantly adding new books from all over the world to this collection. |

This site offering free books is launced from a project that began in 1971 - long before the World Wide Web was known among the general public. |
