Vision Statement:
Wendell Middle School will collaborate with staff,
students and families
to foster a supportive, respectful and
organized environment
that instills each student with a desire to learn,
to achieve individual academic growth, and to be
a caring, contributing citizen
in this ever-changing global 21st century.
Value Statement:
-
We will be respectful in our interactions with students, colleagues and parents.
-
We will take responsibility for our actions.
-
We will teach all children.
-
We will focus on learning and teaching.
-
We will use data to drive our decision making.
-
We will create a safe, orderly learning environment where all
stakeholders are valued and expectations are clear.
End of Grade Testing Begins on Thursday this week.
Here are some tips to help your child do their very best:
-
Make sure that your child is well rested on school days and especially the day of the test. Children who are tired are less able to pay attention or to handle the demands of the test.
-
On the morning of the test, your child needs to get up in plenty of time so he/she won’t feel rushed.
-
Make sure your child has a good breakfast. Research shows that children do better on tests if they have had a healthy breakfast.
-
Make sure your child arrives at school on time the day of the test.
-
Make attendance a priority during the testing sessions. Do not plan any doctor or dental appointments on testing days.
-
Provide books and magazines for your child to read at home. By reading new materials, a child will learn new words that might appear on a test.
-
Remind your child to answer all questions and not to leave any questions blank.
-
Encourage your child to do his/her best.
-
Give lots of love and support this week!
